Shillong, Dec 31, 2025: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has raised concerns over a potential infiltration risk in Meghalaya, warning that ongoing instability in neighboring regions may lead to increased unauthorized entry into the state. The statement highlights the need for enhanced vigilance and proactive measures to maintain security.
Addressing the media, KSU leaders noted that Meghalaya’s porous borders and insufficient monitoring mechanisms could make the state vulnerable to unauthorized entrants. The warning comes amid political and social tensions in neighboring Bangladesh and reflects growing concerns among local communities about demographic stability.
The KSU urged both state and central authorities to strengthen border controls and establish more effective measures to manage cross-border movement. The organization also recommended community awareness programs to educate residents on legal procedures and reporting channels for any suspicious activity.
Officials stressed the importance of collaboration between the Meghalaya Home Department and central security agencies to ensure robust surveillance along the state’s borders. The KSU’s warning underscores broader regional concerns regarding security, migration, and the preservation of local communities’ cultural and economic interests.
The statement from KSU has sparked discussions among civil society groups and political stakeholders in Meghalaya. Authorities are reportedly reviewing measures to enhance monitoring and prevent unauthorized entries. The union’s call for proactive strategies highlights the significance of community involvement alongside official action to maintain safety and security across the state.
