Shillong Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 Strengthens Export Opportunities for Northeast MSMEs

Shillong Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet 2026

Shillong, Feb 4: Business engagement under the Shillong Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 saw participation from around 100 micro, small and medium enterprises from across the Northeast, creating opportunities for direct interaction with international buyers visiting the state capital.

The event, organised at the State Convention Centre, aimed to connect regional producers with overseas markets by arranging structured business meetings instead of conventional exhibitions. Officials said the initiative focused on enabling enterprises to showcase products and explore export partnerships through direct discussions with buyers.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who attended the programme, stated that participation from enterprises representing various sectors reflects the growing potential of local industries. Enterprises from fields such as food processing, spices, handicrafts, textiles, bamboo products and herbal goods displayed items during the business interactions.

Authorities informed that buyers from several countries attended the meet to explore sourcing opportunities from Northeast India. Officials added that the presence of international delegates provided MSMEs an opportunity to understand global market requirements and product expectations.

During the programme, state officials also introduced new measures aimed at improving support for local entrepreneurs, including initiatives to strengthen branding and digital access to government services for small businesses. These steps are intended to help enterprises improve visibility and expand beyond domestic markets.

Industry representatives present at the venue described the event as an important opportunity for enterprises that often face challenges in reaching international buyers due to distance and logistical limitations.

Officials overseeing the Shillong Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 stated that continued engagement of this nature is expected to help enterprises increase export readiness while encouraging business networking across sectors.

The programme concluded with scheduled business discussions continuing between sellers and buyers, while state authorities indicated that further initiatives aimed at supporting MSMEs would be organised in the coming months to maintain export momentum from the region.
