Meghalaya Schools Reopen Across the State for Classes 1–10

Meghalaya Schools Reopen Across the State

Shillong, Feb 9Meghalaya schools reopen across the state today as educational institutions resumed classes for students from Class I to Class X, marking the start of the new academic session after the winter vacation. Schools in Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, Garo Hills, Shillong, Tura and other districts welcomed students back as regular classroom teaching resumed across Meghalaya.

School campuses witnessed a cheerful atmosphere as students returned in large numbers, meeting their classmates and teachers after the holidays. Many schools conducted short morning assemblies and orientation sessions to brief students about academic schedules, examination plans and co-curricular activities for the upcoming months. Teachers encouraged students to maintain regular attendance from the beginning of the session to ensure smooth learning progress.

In the days leading up to reopening, markets across major towns saw parents purchasing books, stationery items, shoes and other essential materials needed for school. Shopkeepers reported increased demand as families prepared their children for the new session.

At the same time, several schools across the state have arranged to provide textbooks, uniforms and school bags directly within school premises, allowing parents to collect required materials conveniently from the institution itself. In schools where uniforms are not supplied internally, parents purchase them from designated uniform shops or stores officially associated with schools, ensuring students follow approved dress codes and school guidelines.

Teachers and school staff were also seen actively engaged on campus today distributing textbooks, uniforms and other materials to students. Meanwhile, administrative staff remained busy handling new admissions, particularly for Nursery and Kindergarten students, as enrollment procedures continue in many schools.

Parents visiting schools for admissions expressed excitement about the new academic year, especially for young children beginning their schooling journey. Several schools have also started orientation activities for newly admitted students to help them adjust comfortably to school life.

With classrooms active again, admission processes ongoing, and preparations in full swing, the reopening signals a fresh and positive academic beginning for students, parents and teachers across Meghalaya for the 2026 session.
