Shillong, Feb 1: Meghalaya digital development strengthened further as state authorities reported continued progress in technology infrastructure projects, including expansion efforts linked to Tura IT Park and ongoing rural connectivity improvements across districts.
Officials said facilities being prepared at the IT Park in Tura are intended to support technology-based companies, startups, and service providers seeking operational space in western Meghalaya. The project is designed to enable local entrepreneurs and technology professionals to operate from the region while supporting digital services and business activities.
Meanwhile, district administrations confirmed improvements in internet and mobile connectivity in several rural areas, enabling residents to access online government services, digital education platforms, and communication tools more smoothly. Public service centres in remote areas have also reported improved network access, helping faster delivery of citizen services.
Authorities noted that connectivity upgrades have supported digital operations in schools, health centres, and local administrative offices, where online platforms are increasingly used for record management and service coordination. Work is also ongoing to extend connectivity coverage to villages where network access was previously limited.
Officials indicated that Meghalaya digital development projects are being implemented in phases, with additional infrastructure upgrades planned as part of broader efforts to strengthen digital access across both urban and rural districts. Infrastructure development and connectivity expansion continue to be monitored as part of ongoing state initiatives aimed at improving access to technology-enabled services throughout Meghalaya.
