Shillong, Jan 30: Meghalaya government reschedules Mumbai spice festival following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, officials confirmed. The three-day event, intended to showcase the state’s spices and facilitate business opportunities for local producers, will take place on revised dates.
Authorities stated that all logistical arrangements, venue preparations, and promotional plans have been temporarily halted. The decision was made in consultation with festival organisers to show respect during Maharashtra’s mourning period.
Government sources added that cooperative groups and producers who were set to participate have been notified about the rescheduling. Updated dates and arrangements will be communicated through official channels once confirmed.
Officials emphasised that the festival remains a key platform for promoting Meghalaya’s local spices and culinary products at a national level. The rescheduled event will provide similar opportunities for producers to connect with buyers.
Authorities reiterated that the postponement is temporary and aligns with national protocols following the death of a prominent political leader. All plans will resume once circumstances permit.
