SHILLONG, Jan 25, 2026 — Shillong Rozgar Mela appointment letters were handed to 155 selected candidates representing Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during a key employment event held at the Border Security Force (BSF) campus in Umpling, Shillong. The gathering formed part of the 18th Rozgar Mela, a national‑level job fair conducted simultaneously at multiple centres across India.
At the Shillong venue, officials from the BSF oversaw the process of issuing appointment documents to successful applicants who qualified for various positions within central government departments and security forces. The distribution was carried out in an organised ceremony designed to connect young talent from the Northeast with stable government employment opportunities.
Among those present, the BSF Meghalaya Inspector General delivered remarks acknowledging the work of participants and highlighting the broader significance of the Rozgar Mela initiative in enhancing job access for youth in the region. The event also included messages emphasising the importance of public service roles and the responsibilities associated with joining government institutions.
Across the country, the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela saw over 61,000 appointment letters distributed to newly recruited individuals in a coordinated effort to match qualified candidates with vacancies in ministries, security forces and other government departments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated virtually, addressing recipients and reaffirming the government’s focus on expanding employment avenues through mission‑oriented programmes.
The Shillong job fair has been widely viewed as a crucial platform for young people from the Northeast to secure meaningful job roles in public service and contribute to the region’s economic and social progress.
